GEOS Colleges offer an extensive range of long and part-time courses. In fact, whatever a student's English needs are, they will be met- whether it be the Cambridge Examinations, IELTS or TOEFL preparation.

What is the TOEFL?

TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. The entire test is taken in one day, which saves you travel time and costs. And, there are more than 4,000 test centers to choose from. The TOEFL test is offered in 2 testing formats: Internet-based test and paper-based test. The format you take depends on your test center location. You can retake the test in just 7 days, if you want to improve your scores. Colleges will usually only consider your latest score.
TOEFL will test your ability to read, listen, speak and write in English at a college level. It is a requirement at many English-speaking universities for non-native applicants. It is also used by many government agencies and businesses.
TOEFL is administered worldwide by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
The test is made up of 4 sections. The reading section consists of 3 long passages on academic topics, and questions about the passages. The listening section consists of 2 student conversations and 4 academic discussions, followed by questions. The speaking section consists of answering opinion questions about some aspect of academic life, then some integrated passages where the student must read a passage and listen to a passage, then speak about how they are related. The writing section consists of an integrated task, and a personal essay.

Advantages of taking the TOEFL

TEOFL is the most widely accepted English-language test in the world, and the most common requirement for university and college requirements in the USA, Australia, UK, New Zealand and Canada. It gives you more choice about where you want to study because it is accepted by many of the top universities and colleges for admissions and scholarships. The test is fair and accurate, with objective and unbiased marking by anonymous experts.
The test gives you the skills to communicate in everyday life as well as academic situations. After preparing for and taking the test you will be able to read books in English, understand lectures, speak with teachers and students, write essays and assignments.

The test of TOEFL is an English language test designed for non English native speakers. The test of TOEFL is for entering the university, collage, or institute to get your degree or diploma for your higher education. You can also asses your English skills by taking the test. Also the Toefl test can be taken to achieve a scholarship, work, promotions, etc. The test consists of 4 parts or sections: reading, writing, speaking, and listening (all about one hour each). You need to prepare well before taking the test of Toefl and when you enter the exam you need to concentrate and try to answer the questions that you know (time is very important and can not be wasted on one one question) foe example if you think there is a question that you are not so sure about leave it and go to the next one if you have time later you can come back to it. time can be a major factor to get a better score in your test. In the listening section try to listen carefully to the speakers. Normally it is better it take a sample test before entering the actual exam (getting your self familiar with the test can save you a lot of time and increase your score). To study TOEFL you need to have the right materials, such as books, CDs, and practice tests. It is very important to get yourself familiar with the test before taking the actual test.

"How can I increase my TOEFL score? What's the secret of the TOEFL? I need a better TOEFL score! I need to improve on the TOEFL!" How many of us haven't heard that a million times or so? Like many other standardized tests in the US, such as the SAT, GED, GMAT, and so forth, the TOEFL can be extremely important for non-native English speakers in obtaining jobs and even getting into certain colleges.
I remember a lot of disappointed faces on students after I told them there was no "easy TOEFL" trick. No secrets, no amazing systems. I suppose such things exist, and perhaps they might raise someone's score, but I guess I'm still enough of a "stick in the mud" to think that there's no substitute for good old study and Practice, Practice, Practice (with a capital "P")! :-) So, you'll find that many of the links on this page are focused strictly on that: practice.
Like them or hate them, standardized tests continue to be used by many institutions, and the TOEFL is used quite a bit. On this page, there are resources to help students practice for the TOEFL and TOEIC, but also a few links for information related to language testing in general, International Second Language Proficiency Ratings, and other information that is of more interest to teachers than to students.
If you're looking for TOEFL Test Prep kinds of things, I've found several resources from Amazon.com and have stuck them in my "store" (which you can visit by clicking here). There are books and guides to TOEFL Prep, TOEIC Prep, and even IELTS

TOEFL Practice Questions - Help your TOEFL Test Score with free TOEFL Test Preparation Materials

The TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, is an exam administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The TOEFL is taken by people for whom English is not their first language. It is used to determine ones’ understanding of the English language in its written and spoken forms in college and university settings and situations. A lot of colleges and universities that are primarily English speaking will require the TOEFL test for non-native English speakers that are applying for admission to those universities. There are various formats of the TOEFL, depending on where one will be taking the test. These include the paper-based test (PBT) and the internet-based test (iBT). Registration for the paper-based and the internet-based tests can be done online, over the phone, or by mail. Online registration can be done on ETS’s website 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Phone registration can be completed by calling 1-443-751-4862 or 1-800-468-6335. Registration can also be completed by sending in the online registration form that can be found online at ETS’s website. The mailing address is indicated on the form. The form, even if one is registering online or by phone, can be useful because it indicates the information that is needed for registration. Contact information, score recipients, and payment of fees are all required at registration. In addition, indicating the identification that will be used at the testing center, knowing the test location and test date desired are also needed when registering for the TOEFL. Early registration for the exam closes seven days before the test date, and late registration closes three days before the test date. There are fees associated with taking the TOEFL test, and there is an additional fee for registering during late registration. Fees depend on the format of test being taken, PBT or iBT, and are outlined online at ETS’s website.

TOEFL exam review
http://www.flashcardsecrets.com/
While some tests are looking to see what you are ABLE to learn, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is designed to test your understanding of what you have already learned. It basically checks to make sure you have a minimum competency level to protect the integrity of the testing process.

In other words, it's more about what you know than your ability to solve clever puzzles. This is good news for those willing to work hard, because it boils down to a very simple strategy: You can succeed on the TOEFL by memorizing as much information as possible so that you are prepared for as many possible questions as might come up on the test.
