How to learn a foreign language
Learning a second
language
includes many benefits, from career opportunities to increased cultural
appreciation. However, it also requires a lot of hard work to learn a
foreign language. Try to set aside some time every day for your studies,
ideally when your brain is at its most receptive. Make sure to revise what
you have learnt regularly so you don't forget it and so you know you have a
firm grip on the material before you move on to more advanced lessons. Get
to know the fundamentals thoroughly before moving on to more complex
lessons.
It is also important to set achievable, timely and measurable goals. Aim for
a certain level of proficiency, or to be able to read a certain book or
watch a particular movie in that language. Learn how to read, write and
speak about things that interest you, and that you are likely to use. This
will help you remember the phrases and grammatical constructions more
easily. Find ways to make language learning fun and interesting, such as
watching cartoons or listening to songs.
Online Language Resources
There are many very helpful online language resources for learning a
language, or for just reinforcing what you have already learnt. These
include sites that teach pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary through
online tutorials. Online bilingual and multilingual dictionaries are also
very helpful when learning a second language. Other sites help with verb and
grammar drills, while others will translate text for you.
These resources are interactive and use various multimedia for effective
learning, such as recording your pronunciation of words for comparison with
a native speaker. Some resources are free, while others can be accessed for
a subscription fee.

UniLang Community
http://home.unilang.org/ The main purpose of the UniLang Community is to provide a home for everybody interested in any aspect of language(s) or linguistics. We bring together everybody who wants to talk about languages, linguistics, literature, culture, translation, communication etc.
The main purpose of the UniLang Community is to provide an online site where people interested in languages can unite, openly discuss, and find resources related to language(s), linguistics and translations.
We are an open non-profit organization, meaning that everything on our site is publicly accessible at no cost, and membership is also free and open for everybody. All data, unless otherwise stated, is licensed under an open licence, the UniLang Public License, as opposed to a restrictive copyright!
What we do...
We try to offer an as complete website as possible with the means to get into contact with fellow language fanatics, our Forum and Chat are always very popular. Our members have conversations and discussions on various languags or other language related topics (and also on less serious subjects, of course) in the forum, and they can also share their opinions in the chatbox
Together, we enable eachother to learn more about eachother's language and culture. For example: when a member who studies Spanish has a question or problem concerning the Spanish language, he can always ask the native Spanish speaking members for help or advice. Or when a member wants to know something about Sweden, he can ask the Swedish members about the Swedish culture, literature and mentality.
Moreover, we, our members, also develop language resources and publish them for free on our website where everybody has access to them. The UniLang Wiki is for example one of the major platforms that allows everybody to read and write language materials, but we also have various other projects running. We can also offer free server space to people running a language project.

Some Gujarati language resources
http://www.aprendizdetodo.com/gujarati/ Some Gujarati language resources
For many years, one problem with learning Gujarati was a shortage of good instructional materials. Most of the Gujarati textbooks published in India that I've seen are linguistically quite naive, amounting to little more than a collection of example sentences in Gujarati and English, with little or no analysis of the underlying grammatical rules of the language. Fortunately, two textbooks were published in 1995 by Jagdish Dave and Rachel Dwyer which may help fill this gap.
Note that different sorts of language learners may have very different needs. A native speaker of Hindi or Marathi may be able to get started in Gujarati with the small "teach yourself" books published in India. An adult non-Indian may need a much more analytical and pedagogically careful approach. A child growing up in a Gujarati emigrant home needs above all contact with a wide variety of Gujarati speakers and encouragement that the tongue of the old country is relevant, fun and worth learning.
With that in mind, here are some Gujarati language resources I have seen.

arm-lingua.com
http://www.arm-lingua.com/ arm-lingua.com
What if you could learn another language as easily as a native speaker? What if you could learn to speak English, German, French, Spanish, Norwegian or Swedish in the same way that children in those respective countries do?
Well, now thanks to ARM, you can!
Child's play!
Anyone who has observed small children learning their mother tongue, and maybe even a second language as well, will know that language learning happens orally. Children are fluent speakers long before they start school.
Finally, a better way to learn a language.
On the basis of 10 years of research and development ARM Lingua has produced a series of language courses - six at present - which provide the oral training and comprehension that is difficult to obtain through traditional classroom based teaching.

Language Exchange Community - Learn English, French, Spanish - practice foreign languages
http://www.mylanguageexchange.com/ Language exchange. Practice foreign languages with native speakers via email, text chat or voice chat. We show you how.
My Language Exchange is the effort of Helene Cormier and Dan Yuen to help people all over the world learn, practice and become fluent in a foreign language.
The two founders met in early 2000 when Dan was a registered student in Helene’s Language Exchange Workshops in Montreal, Canada. Dan was trying to become fluent in French and found Helene’s workshops to be more useful than anything else he had tried before. This experience convinced Dan of two things. One, language classes and immersion alone are not sufficient to become fluent in a foreign language. Two, language exchange practice with a teacher is probably the most effective way to bridge the gap between language classes and communicating in the real world.
Together, they decided to use the Internet to bring the benefits of language exchange practice to people all over the world. In October 2000, MyLanguageExchange.com was launched. This was an online community that has since helped thousands of people find language exchange partners and improve their second language. In the summer of 2001, Helene conducted probably the world’s first successful language exchange workshops online, connecting a student in South Carolina, USA with a native of Switzerland living in Montreal. In the fall of 2001, the online language school was added to the community, offering online teacher services for French, English and Spanish. This service was later discontinued.
MyLanguageExchange.com was featured in the January 2001 issue of Yahoo! Internet Life magazine. In August 2003, PC World magazine named MyLanguageExchange.com among the "Top 101" Internet sites of the world
